Privacy Policy | The Kenmorling

Effective date: June 22, 2026

The Kenmorling (“the app”) is a local community app for viewing Kenmore-area posts, events, spotlights, polls, volunteer opportunities, and moderated community requests. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and how users can request deletion.

The Kenmorling is not an official City of Kenmore app or government service.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address

  • Username or display name

  • Birth date during signup; users must be at least 13 years old to create an account

  • Authentication information handled by Supabase Auth

We use this information to create and secure your account, identify your app profile, prevent duplicate usernames, and support account features.

Profile information

If you customize your profile, we may collect:

  • Profile display name

  • Selected profile theme

  • Profile photo, if you choose one from your photo library

Profile photos are uploaded only when you choose to upload one. The app requests photo library access so you can select a profile or spotlight image.

Community activity

The app may store activity you choose to submit, including:

  • Poll votes

  • Chat/comment requests

  • Approved community comments

  • Volunteer opportunity requests

  • Upvotes or downvotes on comments

  • Award progress, such as login dates, poll participation, and comments made

Some community content, such as approved comments, usernames, and profile images, may be visible to other app users. Requests that are not approved may still be visible to app managers for moderation.

Push notification information

If you allow notifications, the app stores your device’s Expo push token and notification preferences. We use this to send optional notifications for reminders, volunteer opportunities, election guide updates, and comment decisions.

You can change notification preferences in the app settings or disable notifications in your device settings.

Device and local storage

The app uses local device storage to keep you signed in and remember app preferences such as appearance settings. We do not intentionally collect precise location data, contacts, payment information, health data, or advertising identifiers.

Information From External Sources

The app displays or links to public information from sources such as:

  • The Kenmorling website

  • City calendar and public meeting links

  • Local business and chamber event pages

  • Public city contact email links

When you open an external website or email link, that external service may collect information under its own privacy policy.

Copyright and Source Material

The Kenmorling does not grant permission to reuse City of Kenmore text, logos, photos, graphics, or third-party copyrighted material. City and third-party source material remains subject to the terms and permissions of the applicable rights holder. The app links to official sources where users can view current material and review reuse requirements.

How We Use Information

  • Create and manage accounts

  • Sign users in securely

  • Save profile preferences

  • Display community features

  • Count poll votes and award progress

  • Moderate comments and requests

  • Send optional push notifications

  • Improve app reliability and content freshness

  • Prevent abuse, spam, or misuse

We do not sell personal information.

Sharing Information

  • With Supabase, which provides authentication, database, storage, and Edge Function services for the app

  • With Expo push notification services to deliver notifications you opt into

  • With app managers who moderate comments, requests, spotlights, and community content

  • When required to comply with legal obligations or protect the safety and integrity of the app

Public or approved community content may be visible inside the app.

Moderation

Comments and requests may be reviewed before being posted. App managers may remove content that is abusive, threatening, hateful, misleading, spammy, private, or otherwise inappropriate.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.

Deleting your account removes your account, profile, push token, votes, awards, pending requests, and user-linked records where possible. Approved public community content may be removed or anonymized depending on how it is stored at the time of deletion.

You can also request help with account deletion by contacting thekenmorling@gmail.com.

Data Retention

We keep account and app activity information while your account is active or as needed to provide the app. If you delete your account, we delete or detach user-linked records where possible. Some backup, log, or moderation records may remain for a limited period if needed for security, abuse prevention, or technical operations.

Children’s and Teen Privacy

The app is intended for community use, including teens and families. Users should not submit private personal information about themselves or others in comments, requests, polls, or profile fields.

If a parent or guardian believes a child submitted personal information that should be removed, contact thekenmorling@gmail.com.

Security

We use Supabase authentication, database access rules, and app-side controls to help protect user information. No system can guarantee perfect security, but we work to limit access to personal information and restrict manager-only features.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
